Given the drastic increase in delivery activity during the holiday season, Amazon and the Governor’s Highway Safety Association (GHSA) issued a series of Delivery Driver Holiday Road Safety Tips on December 9, which emphasizes the importance of slowing down in residential areas, avoiding distractions while driving, and staying alert for pedestrians and other delivery personnel to promote road safety.
“Holiday deliveries don’t magically arrive at our doorstep. Small actions – like slowing down and moving over for stopped delivery vehicles – can make a huge difference in ensuring the safety of the hard-working folks who are delivering joy to you and your loved ones this holiday season,” GHSA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Adkins said.
The announcement also outlines a series of actions that homeowners can take as well, by making sure their driveways and sidewalks are clear of ice or snow, turning on outdoor lighting and keeping pets inside.
